In addition to completing the necessary training to obtain a representative’s license, Rob is also a member of the Business Brokers Association (WA) and the Australian Institue of Business Brokers.

A. Business Requirements

  • Business background and acumen.
    Rob has worked with large and small businesses and has been successfully self-employed over a nearly 25-year period. He has the experience to be able to relate to and understand the nuances of business types and to identify the strengths a particular business has to offer.
  • Knowledge and analytical skills in regards financial statements.
    Rob has extensive experience working with P&L’s; balance sheets; cashflow plans; and other documents relating to a business.
  • Business operational knowledge
    In addition to his previous background running large businesses, Rob has run his own business for many years and recently managed the Kojonup Co-operative Ltd as the CEO on a contract basis.
  • Business appraisal knowledge:
    Although this is a new area to Rob from a broker’s perspective, he has done a great deal of research into the various methods of business appraisals.
  • Leasing knowledge:
    Rob has extensive experience in commercial leasing as both a tenant and a landlord, including the drafting of new leases and disclosure documents.
  • Property sales knowledge:
    Rob has experience in property sales as a vendor, however, is at the beginning of his career as a property salesperson. Working under the Realty Executives company he is a wealth of experience to support him.
  • Marketing and advertising skills:
    As both a retailer and personnel consultant Rob has many years of experience in this area.
  • Identifying and qualifying prospective buyers:
    Over 20 years as a recruitment consultant has provided Rob with a great insight into identifying and qualifying a person for a role. Additionally, as a franchisor, he needed the same skill-set which is transferable to business broking.
  • Buyer funding options:
    Rob has researched and is continuing to learn the various methods to assist a prospective buyer with sourcing finance.
